LAYERED ZIRCONIA CROWN (PFZ)
Our zirconia layered crown has approximately 60% opacity and covers light to medium-dark dentin shades. It should not be confused with full zirconia crowns and bridges (CAD/CAM monolithic). PFZ crowns and bridges are similar to PFM restorations except that the framework is made of strong CAD/CAM zirconia material. It is the best possible combination of advanced CAD/CAM technology with the precision of highly trained and experienced ceramists. Depending on the case, we use premium e.max (emax) powder for superior aesthetics or premium zirconia power for extra durability.
The indications for PFZ crowns and bridges are for anterior and posterior crowns and bridges up to 4 units. It is possible to fabricate them as thin as 0.5 mm; however, we strongly recommend at least 1.5 mm for an extra thicker framework and to provide ample clearance for the aesthetic layers of porcelain powders with built-in shading.
Biocompatibility
The high-quality PFZ crowns and bridges are comparable to the human body's in that they contain no metal. Zirconium oxide (ZrO2) is the next generation of ceramic materials. Zirconia, a top-of-the-line dental restoration material, consists of pre-sintered zirconium oxide, which is milled in its soft state and sintered overnight. No other restorations can match it in strength, fit, aesthetic appearance, biocompatibility, comfort, and durability.
The zirconia crowns and bridges have superior properties, such as steel-like strength (3-point flexural strength is approximately 1,150 MPa), superior aesthetic appearance, biocompatibility, and low thermal conductivity.
